Students and administrators at the Zuarungu Nursing and Midwifery Training College (NMTC) are concerned about a significant accommodation shortage in the Upper East Region.
The college’s current hostel facilities can only accommodate 254 students, despite having over 700 students.
The remaining students are required to rent private housing outside the school, which hinders discipline, according to the administrators.
During the college’s 2023 matriculation, the principal, Michael Mantamia, stated in an interview with JoyNews that the college is therefore open to public-private partnerships for the construction of hostel facilities for students.
