
Livingstone Etse Satekla, better known by his stage name Stonebwoy, is a Ghanaian Afropop, dance hall and reggae musician. He is the CEO of Burniton Music Group. He won the Best International Act: Africa category at the 2015 BET Awards and Artist of the Year at the 2015 Ghana Music.
EDUCATION
Stonebwoy was born on the 5th of March, 1988 in Ashaiman. Growing up, the young Stonebwoy discovered his passion for music at a very early age. According to research, he successfully scripted and acted for the drama club of his school when he was in primary 4.
After obtaining his First School Leaving Certificate, Stonebwoy enrolled at the Methodist Day Secondary for his High School Leaving Certificate. He further gained admission to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), where he graduated with a degree in Marketing in 2013.
ENTERTAINMENT CAREER
During Stonebwoy’s first year in Senior High School, he met up with a radio DJ/Presenter, Doctor Duncan who at the time was the host of KASAHARI, a real-time rap battle programme. The program gave birth to acts likes Sarkodie, Dr Cryme and many other top Ghanaian rappers.
He released his first radio hit, ‘Makuma‘ in his second year at Senior High School, which was followed by other songs. At his third year, Stonebwoy had amassed for flaming underground popularity in the Ghanaian music industry. He released another song titled ‘Empress‘ which also helped his growth in the music world.
In 2012, Stonebwoy recorded his first hit single ‘Climax‘ featuring Samini and subsequently ‘Ghetto Love‘ featuring Irene Logan. The songs received massive airplay and also earned him nominations at the Ghana Music Awards.
The same year, he released his debut album which he titled ‘Grade 1 Album‘. He featured prominently Ghanaian artists including Tinny and Edem in the seventeen-track album. The album release made the Stonebwoy brand a household name in the music industry.
In 2014 he released his second album ‘Necessary Evil‘. The album consists of twenty-nine tracks and was released under the Burniton Music Group label. The album earned him six nominations (three wins) in the Ghana Music Awards.
Stonebwoy realised his next album, ‘Epistles of Mama‘on 12 December 2017. The 24 track album was dedicated to his late mum, Mrs Catherine Lucy Aku Ametepe Satekla. It features top singers like Sean Paul, King Promise and Burna Boy.
He released his fourth studio album, ‘Anloga Junction‘ on 24th April 2020. It features the likes of Zlatan, Nasty C, Keri Hilson, Jahmiel, Chivv, Kojo Antwi, Alicai Harley, Spanker and Diamond Platinumz.
Personal Life
Stonebwoy got married to his wife, Dr Louisa Ansong in 2017. Ansong graduated as a Dentist in 2016 from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She was the overall best student in the department, bagging 6 out of the 9 awards up for grabs. Stonebwoy has two children, Catherine Jidula Satekla and L Janam Joachim Satekla.
