Premier League duo, Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are battling for the services of Ghana defender, Gideon Mensah.
Mensah left Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg for French Ligue 1 side Auxerre in a permanent deal last summer.
However, English media reports claim that Mensah is being pursued by English clubs and is willing to pay approximately 12 million euros for the defender.
The defender is familiar to Leeds manager Jesse Marsch, who worked with him at Red Bull Salzburg. According to reports, the team at Elland Road is looking for a replacement for left back Pascal Struijk.
Hugo Bueno, a Spanish defender who has impressed in recent weeks, has recently been used as a full-back for Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, Mensah is seen as a reasonably priced alternative by newly appointed manager Julen Lopetegui, who wants to sign a replacement for Bueno.
Since joining RB Salzburg from WAFA SC in the summer of 2016, Gideon Mensah has played for Austrian clubs FC Liefering, Sturm Graz, Zulte Waregem, Vitoria de Guimaraes, and FC Girondins Bordeaux. He is currently playing for Auxerre.
This season, Ghana’s 2022 Fifa World Cup campaigner has played nine times.
